From flammfh.com:
Carlyn Harris, 79, a longtime resident of St. Anthony passed away Thursday February 17, 2022 at her home surrounded by family.
Carlyn was born December 9, 1942 in North Platte Nebraska to James and Teresa Elizabeth Craig Sykes (Smith). She was the proud sister to Linda Stevens, Timothy, Frank and Dan Sykes. As a child the family lived in many places, but she always ended up back home in St. Anthony where her grandparents lived. In 1956 Carlyn met Charles Harris in Billerica, Massachusetts. Charles helped the family move back to Idaho after the vehicle they were driving broke down. During this time she fell in love, they were married in July of 1957 in Winnemucca Nevada. Around 1960 they moved to the St. Anthony area where they purchased land and built a home for their growing family.
Carlyn was the best wife mother and grandmother to nine kids, 5 girls and 4 boys, but her favorite were her grandchildren. She spent her days cleaning up messes, washing faces, wiping noses and preparing snacks. With less than high school education and 9 children, she was a chef, teacher, nurse, maid, hairdresser, entertainment specialist, fitness coach, peace officer (just one look and the world stopped), and the best mom nine kids could have ever asked for. She spent most of her life as a stay at home mom but also taught school at Upper Valley Christian School until it closed in 1985.
She is survived by her children, Teresa Harris of Laurel, Montana; Frances (Doc) Nielson of Idaho Falls, Idaho; James Harris of Rexburg, Idaho; Eugene (Jean) Harris, Donna(Francisco) Lopez, Timothy Harris, Frank Harris, Melody Winters, all of St. Anthony, Idaho; and Linda (Eric) Swensen of Jerome, Idaho; 21 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren and 2 great-great children; siblings, Frank Sykes of Blackfoot, Idaho; and Linda Stevens of Klamath Falls, Oregon; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Harris, 2 infant sons, Christopher and Henry Harris; her parents, Dellas and Teresa Craig Sykes Smith, and James and Delores Sykes; 2 brothers, Dan and Timothy Sykes.
Special thanks to the Relief Society and visiting home teachers who took time from their days to visit with her.
Services will be conducted Monday, February 21, 2022 at 11 a.m. at Bert Flamm Mortuary in St. Anthony Idaho. Family will receive friends from 10:00 -10:45 a.m. Monday February 21, prior to the service. Interment will be in the Riverview Cemetery.
