Jean Fleming Goodwyn, 91, a resident of Montgomery, Alabama, passed away at her home on February 14, 2022. Mrs. Goodwyn was preceded in death by her husband, William Bibb Goodwyn, Jr. She is survived by two daughters, Elizabeth Goodwyn Thetford (Bob) and Foy Goodwyn McGowin (the late Samuel "Mack" McGowin), and one son, William Bibb Goodwyn, III (Mary). She is also survived by nine grandchildren, Foy Thetford Hale (Heath), Dorothy Thetford Bradshaw (Jere Scott), Robert Teague Thetford, Jr. (Amy), William Bibb Goodwyn, IV (Lee), John Fleming Goodwyn (Laura), Lindsey Goodwyn Barker (Chris), Elizabeth Goodwyn McGowin, Alice Adams McGowin, and Alexandra McGowin Dean (Lawton) and eleven precious great grandchildren. Mrs. Goodwyn was born on November 22, 1930, to Aubrey and Elizabeth Fleming. She was a 1949 graduate of Lanier High School, a 1953 graduate of Auburn University, and a member of Kappa Delta Sorority. She enjoyed membership in the Sojourners Literary Club and the Antiquarian Society of Montgomery. She was a noted philanthropist, supporting charities including the Montgomery Museum and the Jule Collins Smith Museum of Fine Art. Along with her daughter, Elizabeth, Mrs. Goodwyn was a founder and co-owner of Goodwyn Design Two, a Montgomery floral design business. Mrs. Goodwyn was a member of the Church of the Ascension, Montgomery, Alabama, serving for many years on the Altar Guild. She was a devoted Christian, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. A graveside service will be held Sunday, February 20, 2022, at 3:00 PM, with Reverend Jere Scott Bradshaw officiating.
