HERRIMAN- Joan Whitaker Smith Scott beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed on September 30, 2020 at the age of 81.
Born July 7, 1939 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Dr Samuel S. Smith and Jeannette W. Smith. Joan graduated from Granite High School class of 1952 with honors. She then attended the University of Utah where she earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing in 1961.
She Married Dr David L. Scott on March 15, 1963 in the Logan LDS Temple. Together they had 7 children whom she unselfishly devoted each day of her life too. Recognized by all who knew her by her never-ending smile she was a friend and neighbor to all, a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and an upbeat strong presence that can never be forgotten. A ray of sunshine for all.
Preceded in Death by her son Raymond Scott. Survived by her children: David Scott (Lori), Larry Scott (Kim), Laura Sullivan, Jill Ashcroft, Danielle Holton (Terry), Sarah Merrill (Greg); 28 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two brothers: Hyrum Smith, John Smith; two sisters: Esther Bowen, Gladys Brown.
Funeral Services will be held Friday Oct 9, 2020 11 am at the LDS Stake Center 12900 south 5633 west Herriman, Utah 84096. There will be a Viewing Thursday Oct 8, 2020 5 to 7 pm at Broomhead Funeral home 12600 South 2200 West Riverton, Ut 84065, and Friday 10:00 to 10:45 am. Interment will be at the Salt Lake City Cemetery Tuesday Oct 13, 2020 at 3 pm.
