Shelburne Free Press & Economist, January 25, 1961 - ALFRED NORMAN BELL
Friends and relatives were saddened by the death in Royal Victoria Hospital, Barrie, on Tuesday, January 10th, 1961, of Alfred Norman Bell, in his 91st year.
He was the youngest son of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Bell, of Primrose. He was born in King Township in 1870.
Mr. Bell and his five brothers and four sisters farmed with their father near Primrose on the Prince of Wales road. In 1900 he married the late Hannah Rutledge, of Whitfield. In 1904 Mr. and Mrs. Bell bought the farm which is now being operated by his grandson, Bruce Cameron, on Highway 89, east of Violet Hill.
Mr. Bell and his wife homesteaded in the west for a few years from 1908 before returning to their Mono farm.
In July, 1958, Mr. and Mrs. Bell moved to Barrie to live with their daughter Lillian (Mrs. Stanley Cameron). Mrs. Bell predeceased her husband the following October.
Mr. Bell is survived by his daughter Lillian and four grandchildren, Bruce, Robert, Ruth and Dwight.
Funeral services were held at the Gamble Funeral Home, Shelburne, on Thursday afternoon, January 12th, and were conducted by Rev. R. P. Bates, of Shelburne.
The pallbearers were Messrs. Bill Thompson, Gordon Parsons, Hubert Mitchell, Keith Sherman, Frank Brown and Henry Holmes.
The beautiful floral tributes were carried by four nephews, Lloyd and Keith Bell, Elgin and Angus Bell, and Don Goodwin and Ron Riddell.
The remains are resting in Shelburne Mortuary.
