June Lavette Carver spent her 100 years on this earth as a mother, grandma, great-grandma, and sister. Born on May 21, 1921 in Gypsum, Kansas, she was the second of four children born to Raymond and Etta Adams. June graduated from William Chrisman High School in 1939 and joined her two brothers in serving our country on December 30, 1943. As a Marine, June was stationed at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina. While June served as a clerk on base, she also jumped out of airplanes, played a variety of intramural games, and enjoyed spending time on the beach. After leaving the Marines on January 19, 1946, June returned to Independence, Missouri where she met her husband, Melvon C. Carver; the two married on June 14,1946. In their 60 years of marriage they welcomed one son, Michael Ray Carver of Blue Springs, MO; two grandchildren, Dan Carver and fiancé Rebecca Buckley of Mooresville, NC, Trisha (Carver) Guffey and husband Bobby; and two great-grandchildren, Gage Guffey and Gracelyn Guffey of Kansas City, MO. June was an active member of Immanuel Baptist Church until moving to the Cameron Veterans Home. June lived a life of service and enjoyed gardening, playing board and card games, reading, camping and traveling. Visitation will occur on Monday, March 28, 2022 at 9:00am with the celebration of life beginning at 10:00am. Services will be held at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E 39th St., with graveside services at Oak Ridge Memory Gardens in Independence, MO.
