Yhe daughter of Herbert R. and Bessie (Gordon) Clark, she was born December 28, 1903 in Adair County, Missouri. On August 8, 1926 she married J. Hayward Duffie who preceded her in death in September of 1987.
Also preceding her in death were her parents; one infant daughter; one brother Roy Clark and three sisters, Irene Farr, Vera Ratliff and Evelyn Winslow.
She is survived by one son, Roy Duffie and wife Eileen of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; two granddaughters, Judith Ouzts of Wilmington, North Carolina and Patricia Seymour of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; five great-grandchildren; one sister-in-lae Mae Clark, a life long friend Dema Farr and several nieces and nephews including Lay & Loreen Ratliff who provided love, comfort and assistance during her life.
Mrs. Duffie was a lifelong resident of Adair County. During her husbands tenure as a rural school teacher they lived in the Sperry, Wilmathsville and Radical Ridge communities. The were dairy farmers until their retirement in 1966. At that time they moved to Kirksville to make their home.
Mrs. Duffie was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Kirksville, the United Methodist Women and the Miriam Circle.
Funeral services will be held Sunday March 17, 1996 at 2:30 p.m. in the chapel of the Davis-Playle Funeral Home. The Rev. Eric Anderson will officiate. Burial will be in the Maple Hills Cemetery.
Bearers will be Kay Ratliff, David Clark, Rufus Winslow, Bill Winslow, Roger Ratliff and Terry Novinger.
