There is questionable reasoning for me saying that James Polk Trotter is NOT a child of Mary. According to another submitter she is the mother of Martha born 1810 and James was not born until 1850, there is too much time between children for them both to belong to Mary. James Trotter's memorial has a note attached saying he is the son of Isham and Manerva Trotter, Martha was the daughter of Mary and Benjamin Trotter, I just don't believe that James belongs on Mary's memorial page.
I have notified the submitter of James Polk Trotter in hopes that he will remove James from being the child of Mary. On March 23, 2013 I checked and James Polk Trotter HAD BEEN REMOVED as a child of Mary. I am leaving this note here on his memorial for others just in case there has been a mix up of parentage of James Polk Trotter. Maybe it will help others to connect him to his parents and not his grandmother if this is left.
Another submitted contacted me to ask that I add Mary's name as Mary Shorter Brown Trotter and that she was the mother a Martha Trotter Baugh which I have linked to her.
This submitter also says that Isham Trotter is also a child of Mary S Trotter, which his birthdate is only a few years off from Martha's, making more sense. Mary Shorter Brown Trotter is the daughter of Aaron Venable Brown and Elizabeth 'Betsey' Melton Brown. Mary married Benjamin Trotter on November 4, 1802. Mary and Benjamin had 9 children.
