Betty Simmons, 59, 811 N. Center St., peacefully passed from labor to reward on Sunday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
Her life will be celebrated in a homegoing service on Thursday at 2 p.m. at Greater St. John Free Will Baptist Church with pastor Christine Lattimore officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Old Mill Cemetery.
Left to cherish precious memories are her husband, Larry Simmons; three daughters, Carmela James, Teresa Whitaker and Terhonda Griffin, all of Goldsboro; son, Ricky Hines of Goldsboro; sisters, Doris Jacobs and Lillian Pearsall of Goldsboro and Evelyn Breake of Raleigh; brothers, Harvey Hines of Dudley, Ronnie Hines, Leslie Hines Jr., Linwood Earl Hines, all of Goldsboro, and Jimmy Hines, Norfolk, Va.
Also surviving him are 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 2 until 6 p.m. at McIntyre Funeral Home Ministries of Goldsboro. The family will receive friends at the home of her daughter Carmela, 704 Pittman St., where they will also assemble in preparation for the funeral procession.
A repass will follow the committal service at the Greenleaf Church of Christ, Hooks River Road.
