Passed away Thursday,
1-10-2008, at
Raleigh General Hospital,
Beckley, Raleigh County, WV, following a long illness.
Born
10-28-1915 at
Flat Top, Mercer/Raleigh County, WV, she was the
Daughter of the late
Isaac Vaughn Moye
and
Mamie (Pettry) Moye.
Preceded also, in 1996, by her
Husband of 63 years,
Fred Maddy;
3 Sisters,
Vie (Moye) Maddy;
Hallie (Moye) Dilley; and
Pauline (Moye) Bishop; and
3 Brothers,
Ted Moye;
Dorman Moye; and
Isaac Vernon "Vernon" Moye.
Willie was an avid story teller and genealogist. She helped write a book concerning cemeteries in Summers and Raleigh Counties. She was affectionately nicknamed "Tombstone Maddy" for her desire to provide monuments for unmarked graves in this area and, until this past year, had never missed a Lilly Reunion, which she was very proud to have accomplished.
She was a member of the
Daughters of the American Revolution and a
Member of
Shady Spring First Baptist Church,
Shady Spring, Raleigh County, WV.
Survivors left to cherish her memory are

Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home,
Shady Spring, Raleigh County, WV.
Service, with visitation one hour before the service, will be at 11 AM Monday,
1-14-2008, at
Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home with the
Rev. Delvin Elwell officiating,
Burial will follow in the
Moye Family Cemetery,
Flat Top, West Virginia.
Grandsons are serving as pallbearers.
Honorary pallbearers will be
C.D. Morgan,
Michael Winston, and
Craig Woodrum.
