Born July 10, 1941 in Pear, WV, he was the son of the late Russell B. Arthur and Margaret Marie Bragg Arthur. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel, by three brothers, one sister, two sisters-in-law, and two brothers-in-law.
Those left to cherish his memory include his children, Annette and Les Arthur of Bragg WV and Michael Arthur of Hinton; three sisters, Sue Bragg of Ellison Ridge, Sharon Bragg (Donald), of Bragg, and Debra Clay (Ken) of Princeton; a brother, Robert Arthur (Teresa), of Richmond, Virginia. Seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren, three God Children, and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Mr. Arthur was a brick mason for over forty years, until he finally retired in 2002 to be with his family. He really enjoyed the outdoors, working in the garden and collecting and repairing old clocks. He also loved watching The Weather Channel on television. Mr. Arthur attended Abraham Freewill Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be conducted at Abraham Freewill Baptist Church at Bragg, WV on Sunday, May 1, 2022, at 2 PM with Rev. Michael Lucas officiating. Burial will follow at Goodson Cemetery #1 at Bragg, WV. Friends may visit with the family from 6 PM until 9 PM on Saturday at the Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home at Shady Spring, and also one hour prior to the services on Sunday at the church.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
