AUSTIN, Nev., Nov. 19 (Special) -
Funeral services for Charles Allen, who died suddenly Saturday night of acute indigestion at his ranch home nine miles south of Cortez in eastern Lander county, were held at Cortez on Tuesday afternoon. Last rites were conducted by Rev. J. M. Swander of the Presbyterian church of Elko. There was a large attendance of friends and neighbors from Lander, Eureka and Elko counties. Pallbearers were Bernard Damele, Eugene Johnson, Fritz Walti, John Boitano, I. M. Southwick and Bert Acree.
Allen was a native of Tecora (Decorah), Iowa and was 75 years old at the time of his death. He came to Nevada in 1883 and has been a prominent stockman for a number of years. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Stella C. Allen, three daughters, Mrs. Matt Bertrand residing at Cortez, Mrs. A. S. Cook living in Idaho, Miss Lettie Allen and sons Steve and Clarence of Cortez, Gerald L. Allen and Andy I. Allen of Austin. A niece, Mrs. Paul Ryan of Austin, a nephew, Frank Pedlar and five grandchildren.
