Mika Christian Bailey

Mika Christian Bailey was born on October 1st, 1959, in Bonham, Texas to Albert and Patricia Christian. She grew up the oldest of three, with two brothers whom she loved dearly, Trent and Kirk Christian.

While pursuing a degree in clothing design at the University of Texas in Austin, she met and fell for the love of her life, Michael Bailey. The two married in 1985, and she gave birth to her son, Walker Bailey, in 1995. Mika was a committed evangelist, and she put an immeasurable amount of time and energy, much of which went unseen and unknown to others, working to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the world. Her faith was not nominal but penetrated the deepest fibers of her existence. Her persistently inquisitive mind was constantly churning through the scriptures, and she was never satisfied with a shallow understanding of God's word.

The last 12 years of Mika's life were marked by the trials of chronic and progressive cancer. She often described how the constant; looming threat of her illness gave her a sense of spiritual clarity; she could either hold fast to the promises of Christ or live in despair. There was no middle ground.

In the face of hopelessness, Mika chose Jesus. She faced the pains of her mortal life bravely while clinging steadfastly to the hope of His Third Day Resurrection. Anyone who interacted with her, even in her final days and hours, felt an outpouring of supernatural grace, peace, and love from her. She showed us the face of Christ, He who overcame death, and we all saw for ourselves, in Mika, that death has indeed lost its sting.

Graveside services were held Saturday May 7, 2022 at the Lamasco Cemetery.
