Pickens, SC - Leon (Sug) Cassell, 67, died in a Columbia hospital Saturday afternoon after several years of declining health and a serious illness of two weeks.
He was a lifelong resident of Pickens County. He was a son of the late David Hamilton Cassell and the late Mary Stewart Cassell. He was never married. He was a retired farmer and a veteran of World War I. He was a member of Holly Springs Baptist Church.
Surviving are three brothers, John Perry Cassell, Robert Cassell and J. Denton Cassell, all of Pickens; two sisters, Mrs. Lily Chappell of Pickens and Mrs. Dallie Chappell of Rosman, North Carolina.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Clayton-Dillard Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be I. V. Cassell, Clifton Cassell, Huey Cassell, Robert Chappell, Roy Hudson and Munroe Gravely.
Honorary escort will be the deacons of Holly Springs Baptist Church
The body is at the Clayton-Dillard Funeral Home. The family is at the residence of a brother, J. Denton Cassell of Route 2, Pickens.
