One of seven members of Bathurst High School Phantoms senior varsity basketball team killed when their van collided with a tractor-trailer in icy driving conditions. A teacher, Beth Lord, wife of the coach/driver also died. Four other passengers survived and were transported to hospital for treatment.
Nickolas, age 16, was an accomplished athlete and student. He wore No. 11 on the BHS boys' basketball team, was a member of the track and field team, and the Chaleur Soccer team. A standout soccer player, he was remembered for his natural leadership skills. He is survived by his parents, a brother, maternal grandparents, many other relatives and friends.
A funeral service was held at the KC Irving Civic Centre in Bathurst, New Brunswick on January 16, 2008.
