HERRBACH, ELMER, Dec. 28, 1916 - Jan. 9, 2008.

Elmer E. Herrbach, 91, Altamonte Springs, FL and formerly of Michigan City, IN went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2008.

Mr. Herrbach was born Dec. 28, 1916, in a farm house near Hesston, IN to Theodore and Anna (Dietz) Herrbach, both German immigrants who preceded him in death.

On August 3, 1939 he married Helen V. Brown of Michigan City, who passed away in 1991.

Surviving are sons, Ted (Kathy) Herrbach, Altamonte Springs, FL and Ralph (Nancy) Herrbach, LaPorte, IN; eight grandchildren, Toni Renee (David) Anderson, Fort Meade, MD, Todd (Beki) Herrbach, Altamonte Springs, FL, Trisha
(Jason) Jones, Altamonte Springs, FL, Laura (Lanny) Funchess, Mooresboro, NC, John (Cyndi) Allen, Valparaiso, IN, Wynne (Jennifer) Herrbach, Chesterton, IN, Samuel (Gina) Herrbach, San Clemente, CA, Sarabeth (David) Scott, Minneapolis, MN; 19 great-grandchildren; and sister Janet (Jacob) Pizarek, LaPorte, IN.

He was also preceded in death by son Eugene E. Herrbach, brothers Frank and Walter Herrbach and sister Marian Miller.

Mr. Herrbach had been employed as a service engineer with Joy Manufacturing Co. in Michigan City, IN for 28 years and for 13 years by Wickman Machine Tools in Chicago, IL.

Upon his retirement in 1983, Elmer and Helen moved to Indianapolis. Because of his reputation for mechanical skills, he kept busy building automated machinery and fixing anything people brought to him.

He was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

He will be missed and lovingly remembered as a "sweet and gentle man" by all who knew him.
