Long Time Resident of Stephenson County Expires
David Shue, Sr., an old and well-known resident of Freeport, passed away about 8 o'clock this morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Fred Thurman, at 704 West Alsop Street. Mr. Shue had been in ill health for some time and suffered a stroke last Monday. Although everything possible was done to prolong his life he was forced to succumb this morning.
Funeral services will be conducted from the Thruman home at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon. Interment will be made in the city cemetery.
Mr. Shue was born in Lancaster, Pa., on August 3, 1850. He came west many years ago and settled in Freeport where he had resided ever since. His wife, who was Miss Carrie Pfender, passed away twenty-nine years ago. He leaves to mourn his loss three children. They are Mrs. Fred Thruman, Mrs. John Shamway and David Shue, Jr., all of Freeport. Mr. Shue had many friends through-out the city all of whom will mourn his passing.
