Graveside services for Roger D. Deaton of Copperas Cove, Texas, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Lehrton Cemetery in Ruleville.
Mr. Deaton, 63, died of heart failure Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2008, at the V.A. Health System in Temple, Texas.
Mr. Deaton was born in Ruleville on June 23, 1944, to Refus and Martha Deaton. He attended Sunnyside and Leflore County high schools. He retired from the United States Army after 25 years as a diesel mechanic.
He was preceded in death by his son, Roger D. Deaton Jr.
Mr. Deaton is survived by his spouse of 36 years, Kim Deaton of Copperas Cove, Texas; two daughters, Diane Deaton Smith and JoAnne Deaton, both of Copperas Cove; three brothers, Dexter Deaton of Minter City, Hal Wayne Deaton of Gore Springs and Billy Joe Deaton of Nashville; three sisters, Peggy Burden of Greenwood, Ina Gordon of Waveland and Jane Neuhausser of Lebanon, Ohio; and two grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Williams and Lord Funeral Home.
The Rev. Bernard Wiggins and the Rev. Charles Runnels will officiate at the services. Pallbearers will be Justin Deaton, Hal Deaton, Buddy Deaton, Cliff Sewell, Mike Burden, Robert Deaton, Justin Deaton and Allen Smith.
Williams and Lord Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Burial will be in Lehrton Cemetery in Ruleville.
