Dorothy (DeLapp) Boyle
May 12, 1951- June 6, 2022 (age 71)

Dorothy DeLapp Boyle, 71, of Eagle Mountain passed away Monday, June 6, 2022. She was born in Delta, Utah to John and Shirley Harris DeLapp.  The third of six children, she grew up surrounded by family and farmland.

Dorothy attended college, graduating from Utah State University, followed by a church mission to Anchorage, Alaska.

She married Dan Boyle in 1980 and moved to Mesa, Arizona where she lived for 30 years. During that time she raised five children and began pursuing an undergraduate degree in Illustration. After a divorce in 2010, she moved to Eagle Mountain, Utah where she completed a degree in Illustration from Utah Valley University.

Dorothy always wanted to help others improve their lives and spent most of her life watching out for people in need. Her first undergraduate degree was in Early Childhood Education. She utilized that training throughout her life, including as a preschool teacher, raising her children and showering love on her grandchildren and children in her neighborhood.

For the past several years, Dorothy assisted clients across the globe with relaxation and alternative coaching. As a graduate of Growth Climate as a relationship specialist, she offered counseling based on her life experiences and utilized a variety of methodologies, always striving to provide her clients with additional healing and peace.

Dorothy was a natural-born artist. She excelled in various disciplines from paper cutting to quilting to painting, and her hard work and skill resulted in a number of awards and recognition.

While completing her Illustration degree, she committed to painting the story of the Mormon Battalion because of her ancestral ties to it and because she felt their story needed to be told. As a result, she completed a series of more than 40 paintings and drawings based on extensive research and on-location visits.

She appreciated color and light in the natural world. Like her mother, she always grew flowers and usually had a garden, and even managed it in the blistering Arizona summers. She loved to "go for a drive" to see a canyon or explore a new area to observe the beauty of the world.

Dorothy loved music, especially the piano. She dedicated many years to playing the piano and organ for church congregations as well as teaching music to youth. Her family recalls many happy evenings spent gathered around the piano singing and laughing while she played for them.

Most of all, Dorothy loved her Savior Jesus Christ. She studied His life and teachings, spoke of Him often, and encouraged others to strengthen their belief in Him. Following His example, service to others was her life goal. Her favorite activity was to anonymously do service for someone. If you have benefited from her service, and even if you have not, we encourage you carry on her practice by noticing people in need and serving them.

She is survived by her children: (Laura Phelps, Marti Major, John Boyle, Sam Boyle, Aaron Boyle), siblings (Paul DeLapp, Gordon DeLapp, Robert DeLapp, Edith DeLapp), good friend Toni Davis and many other dear friends and associates.

Her family expresses their thanks to Legacy House of Ogden and Quality Hospice for their excellent care in the recent past.
