Phillipe Borghese II was born on May 7, 1920 at the Borghese residence in Knightsbridge, Westminster, to aristocrats Gabriel Borghese and Roselyn McLaren. He was named after Phillipe Borghese, his uncle, who was killed in France during WWI. He was baptized Roman Catholic on May 10, 1920 at the Westminster Cathedral on Francis Street. His father Gabriel took his own life in 1922 at the age of just 22, leaving Phillipe to be raised by his mother. Phillipe served his country during WWII; tragically, he was killed in action in Germany on April 11, 1943. Eerily, he was the same age his father was when he died, and died in war like the uncle he was named after. Phillipe's body was returned to his family nearly a month after his death, and he was laid to rest next to his father, uncle, and grandmother at the Highgate Cemetery on May 8, 1943.
