Jeff Dropo, 50, of Sandwich, died peacefully Thursday, Jan. 17, 2008, at home surrounded by his family.

Born in Marblehead on Dec. 7, 1957, he was the son of Walter and Elizabeth "Wise" Dropo. He was a graduate of Marblehead High School and Colby College. He was a business executive for TNT Fireworks, headquartered in Florence, Ala., until the time of his death.

He moved from Florence, Ala., to Cape Cod in 2000 where he resumed his lifelong interest in lobster fishing on his boat, the TNT. He was a triathlete and an avid swimmer active in the Masters Swimming Program and was a volunteer swim coach at the YMCA in Cape Cod where his motto, "Never Give In," will be forever remembered.

On Sept. 14, 1984, he married Susan Derby Fanning. Together they raised three children, Jennifer, Elizabeth and Alexander, all of Sandwich. Also surviving are two sisters, Carla (Thomas Welch) Dropo, of Beverly and Christina (Vladian Hogea) Dropo, of Weymouth. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

Reception of the body and wake service will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 324 Quaker Meetinghouse Road, East Sandwich, with visitation continuing until 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Burial will be in Sandwich Town Cemetery.
