Neva Louise Cranston Wilcox, 95, of Arkansas City passed peacefully Thursday, June 9, 2022, at Presbyterian Manor in Arkansas City. Cremation has been effected. Graveside services have been scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 16, 2022, at the Parker Cemetery.

Neva was born March 20, 1927, on a farm near Langdon, Kansas to Mabel Belle Chrislip Cranston and Alva LeRoy Cranston. They lost the farm to the Dust Bowl and moved to Winfield, Kansas. She was the fifth of six children. Neva graduated from Winfield High School and taught at Sunnyside Country School.

On May 23, 1947, she married Hal Dean Wilcox in Winfield at Grace United Methodist Church in a double wedding with her sister, Virginia. She earned a degree in elementary education from Southwestern College and later a Master's from Wichita State University. She taught 1st grade at USD #470 for more than 25 years and retired in 1989. Neva enjoyed reading, oil painting, knitting and playing bridge. She loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren dearly. She could be found attending their many activities and always interacting with them at family gatherings. Neva was a member of PEO Chapter BO, Delta Kappa Gamma and Arkansas City Memorial Hospital Woman's Auxiliary.

Survivors include her son Wiley (Cathy), grandson Aaron (Amy); granddaughter Abbey Collier (Kyle); and great grandsons Ayson and Axton Wilcox and Landon Collier. Neva was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Hal, siblings Erlis, Merle, Madena Denny, Virginia Martin and Junea Lawrence; great grandson, Avery Dean Wilcox and niece Kristine Lawrence.

A memorial has been established to the Presbyterian Manor of Arkansas City.
