Painter. Juan Rodríguez Juárez was an outstanding Baroque Novohispanic painter, author of some of the most important works of that period in the Viceroyalty of New Spain. His style is defined as intermediate between tenebrism and late baroque or rococo painting. He is the author of some of the central pieces of the Altar of the Kings of the Metropolitan Cathedral, "La Adoración de los Magos" and "La Asunción de la Virgen," and also of the famous portraits of Archbishop José de Lanciego and that of the Viceroy Fernando de Alencastre.
