He was the son of Michael and Malvina (Finch) Kubsh. Leroy was a 1943 graduate of Denmark High School, Denmark, Wisconsin and a 1949 graduate of St. Norbert College, DePere, WI. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during WWII. Leroy married Marilyn Mutchler on October 4, 1952 in St. Mary's Catholic Church, Janesville, WI. After graduating from college, Leroy moved to Beloit and began working for Gardner Machine Company in 1949 as a chemist. His career at Gardner spanned 42 years including 13 years as President of the company from 1979 until his retirement in 1992. During his career at Gardner Machine Co. he was granted numerous patents for novel abrasive products and served as the President of the Grinding Wheel Institute. He was a founding member of Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church, former member of St. Jude Catholic Church and St. Peter Catholic Church and was currently a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church. Leroy was also a 4th Degree Member of St. Peter's Knights of Columbus Council #8021, member of the Beloit Memorial Hospital Board, a trustee of Blackhawk State Bank, served on the Executive Board for the Stateline Area Boy Scouts and was a member of the Catholic Social Services Board. He loved fishing, gardening, good food and the Packers.
