Ruth Shular, 73, of Williamsville, MO, passed away Tuesday, January 1, 2013, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center. Ruth Inez Shular was born March 29, 1939, in Mill Spring, MO, to Joseph C. and Ada Skaggs Dougherty. She attended New Prospect School in rural Mill Spring and lived in Williamsville her entire life. On August 25, 1956, she married Frank Shular and to this union four daughters were born. She retired in 2007 after thirty years as a cook in Williamsville. "Miss Ruth" enjoyed working in her yard tending flowers and growing vegetables to can. She enjoyed decorating for the holidays. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Ruth is survived by three daughters, Debra Duckett and husband, Donald, of St. Louis, MO, Donna Shular of Canyon Lake, TX, Shelby Wells and husband, Derrick, of Williamsville; one brother, Gene Dougherty and wife, Etta, of Williamsville; two sisters, Mildred Eads and husband, Forrest, of Williamsville, Verna Mae Nunn of Chico, CA; six grandchildren, Brian Duckett and wife Danielle, Robert Duckett and wife Jennifer, Dale Day and wife Mallory, Amanda Harmon and husband Michael, Daniel Shular and Matthew Bristow; five great grandchildren, Nicky, Savannah, Wyatt, Rebecca and Lilly. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one daughter, Karen Day; two brothers, Ray and Joe Dougherty; four sisters, Opal Forester, Mary Elizabeth "Peb" Marler, Loraine Burns and Irene Gobel. A visitation will be held Thursday, January 3, 2013, at Ruegg Funeral Home Chapel in Williamsville, MO, at 5:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Friday, January 4, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Wesley-Dixon Cemetery at Hiram. Serving as pall bearers will be Brian Duckett, Michael Day, Robert Duckett, Matthew Bristow, Dale Day and Daniel Shular. Linette Nelson will provide music for the service and Pastor Aaron Burton will officiate. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Williamsville Fire Department.
