Obituary from The Salt Lake Tribune (Salt Lake City, UT) - Thursday, May 6, 1999:
Lois Mary Andrus Madsen, 81, passed away gently on May 4, 1999 at Woodland Park Care Center after a short but intense struggle due to complication from back surgery. She leaves behind a legacy of courage and faith which will be cherished by her posterity. Her wit and wisdom have been guideposts for her family and her example will be sorely missed.
Born October 16, 1917 to Juletta Berrett and Newton Andrus in Ucon, Idaho, she was the ninth of ten children and the last of her immediate family to pass from this mortal existence. She married Martin Christian Madsen in the Manti Temple on October 26, 1937 and is the mother of three children. She has been an active member of the LDS Church and her testimony has helped mold and shape three generations of children.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Martin (Chris) Madsen; her children: Judith Hunt (Carl) of Pleasanton, California; Terry Bateman (Arnold) of Lincoln, Nebraska; Ross Madsen (Eleanor) of West Valley, Utah; 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 7, 1999, 11 a.m., Murray 21st Ward, 67 (West) Clay Park Drive (6340 So.). Interment, Redwood Memorial Estates Cemetery.
