Mrs. Arveta A. Mickelsen, 64, a nurse for many years, died at a local hospital Sunday evening. She had been hospitalized since June 21.
She was born on March 15, 1907 at Ora, Idaho, the daughter of Newton and Juletta Berrett Andrus. They lived at Chester and Ucon. She attended schools at Ucon, Idaho Falls, and Rexburg Academy.
She took nurse's training at the LDS Hospital and has been a nurse most of her life. She worked at the Salt Lake City, Utah, Veterans Hospital for six years and has been at the Carson Nursing Home at Rigby for three years.
She was a member of the LDS Church, worked in the Relief Society, on the Primary Stake board, and the MIA presidency.
She married Ruel Mickelsen on October 1936 in Jackson, Wyoming. They were later divorced.
She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. James (Reula) Southwick, Idaho Falls; five grandchildren; the following brothers and sisters: N. Leslie Andrus, Lyman, A. Golden Andrus, Ashton, Mrs. Mazle (Rose) King, Salt Lake City, Utah, Mrs. Herman (Verda) Wakeman, Soda Springs, A. LaMar Andrus, Provo, Utah, Emil R. Andrus, Salt Lake City, Utah, Mrs. Chris (Lois) Madsen, Murray, Utah, Ivan Q. Andrus, Tacoma, Washington.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at the 9th LDS Ward Chapel, with Bishop Dean Pfost officiating. Burial will be in the Ammon Cemetery under the direction of Wood Funeral Home.
