John spent most of his life in the Marinette area, attending school in Peshtigo.
He married Joan Krumrei on February 7, 1959.
John was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing and camping. In his early years John was known for being a crackerjack mechanic at George Menor's Service Station. He delivered magazines for Allard News Agency. He sold farm equipment for both Jacobson Implement and Hanson Implement. Then in his later years he was able to achieve his dream of owning his own farm.
John is survived by 3 sons, 10 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren:
son: John F. (Julie) McClain and children, Jennifer Joan, John Lucas (Kayla) their children, Bentley, Presley and John Konnor, and Julie's son, Trevor;
son: Kurt (Mary) McClain and their children, James, Elizabeth, Whitney, Alaina and Della;
and son: Kenneth McClain and his children, Kevin, his son Zacharia, and Ken's daughter, Chandra;
his sisters: Hazel (Rod Spice) Cloutier; Shirley (Mrs. Robert) Brown; Susan (Mrs. Vern) Miller; Sandy (Marvin) Marotz and Mary (Tom) Mitchell
brothers: Ed (Kathy); Paul (Rhonda) and Alvin (Kim) McClain;
and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Joan and two brothers: Louis and David.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 30, 2022, at Hansen-Onion-Martell Funeral Home from 4 until 6 p.m. with a memorial service to follow.
