She was the wife of the late William B. Hairston, Jr. (1924-2015) of Birmingham, Alabama.
Daughter of the late William Lee Poe (1893-1980) and Evelyn Hoke Poe (1898-1977), both of Birmingham, Alabama; and the sister of W. Lee Poe, Jr. (1927-2022) of Aiken, South Carolina, and Michael H. Poe (1930-2008) of Birmingham, Alabama who both were waiting for her arrival in the heavenly kingdom.
Weezie is survived by one son of Birmingham, Alabama and sisters-in-law.
Weezie, following her father's passion of cultivating the state flower, was a member of the Birmingham Camellia Society and a judge in the American Camellia Society. Following her father's passing, she developed and named two Camellia varieties after him in appreciation of his development and naming of the multiple Louise Hairston Camellia varieties for her.
The family would like to express its gratitude and love to all the staff at Kirkwood by the River and to Affinity Hospice whose tender care allowed Weezie to rest peacefully until the time of her eternal rest.
A private inurnment service for Weezie will be held at Highlands United Methodist Church where she was a lifelong member.
