Diplomat and Naval Officer. He was a South Korean Admiral that served as the 12th. Chief of Naval Operations that served in several ranks before being promoted to admiral on April 16, 1979. He retired as Chief of Naval Operations on May 14, 1981. On May 14, 1981 he was made the Ambassador of South Korea to the Republic of China (ROC) where he served until April 11, 1985. After retirement, he joined an advisory council of reserve admirals and became the 5th Vice President of the association in 1998.
