Richard (Dick) Thomas Bourdon, age 89, of Wilmington, DE passed away surrounded by his family on July 26, 2022.

Born in Wilmington, DE he was the son of the late Vilena (Brownhill) and Francis Victor Bourdon.

He graduated from Archmere Academy and received his Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Delaware. Dick went on to work in the aerospace industry for 37 years, retiring as supervisor, Tool Engineering at Thiokol Corporation, now known as Northrop Grumman. Dick managed tooling group activities, including manufacturing tooling, test tooling, and shipping containers for a broad range of space motors and gas generators. In addition to tooling design oversight, Dick also assisted customers in the inspection and preparation of motors for integration into the launch vehicle or spacecraft, provided launch support service, and assisted in checkout and radiographic inspection at the launch site.

Dick was a "jack-of-all-trades" and enjoyed at-home, do-it-yourself projects. He loved visiting vacation spots, such as Hawaii, Cocoa Beach, and the gulf shores. During his retirement, Dick would spend time at his beach house and on his boat, the "Interlude", with his wife, Ruth. He enjoyed spending time with his family and close friends and will be dearly missed.

In addition to his parents, Dick was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy Bourdon in 1975; his brother, Francis Bourdon, Jr.; and his sister, Priscilla Leonard.

Dick is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Ruth (Abrams) Bourdon; his children and their spouses, Vicki Bourdon-Payne and Edwin Payne, Richard F. Bourdon, Alex T. and Diane Bourdon, and Carol Ann Bourdon; his step children and their spouses, Lois and Brent Newsome, Jane and Mike Wedman, and Don and Karen Ironside; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family.
