Lela Gage Boyd died at the age of 76 at Bossier Medical Center following a short illness. She was a daughter of the late Grover Cleveland and Ora Spears Gage.


Lela was a native of Cornerville, Arkansas, and lived in Bossier City 48 years. She was a retired LPN and a member of Waller Baptist Church.


In addition to her parents, Lela was preceded in death by her husband, Felix Boyd; and her stepmother, Ruth Nutt Gage. Survivors include her son, Wayne Boyd of Avinger, Texas; two daughters, Candy Hammock of Bossier City and Nelda Webb of Heflin, Louisiana; sister, Elaine Warner of Liberal, Kansas; brother, Dewey Castleberry of Scottsdale, Arizona; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.


Funeral services were held Tuesday, January 16, 1990, at the Bossier City Chapel of Rose-Neath Funeral Home with Reverend Joe Waggoner officiating. Burial was at Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Lela was also preceded in death by a half sister, Patty Ruth Gage (Sep 25, 1929--Oct 30, 1981). Patty married Arol Joe Ellison March 3, 1950, in Pulaski County, Arkansas. He was born Dec 10, 1929, and died Jan 7, 2001.
