Eliza Thompson Bickers was educated in the Marion County School System in Ocala, Florida and graduated from Florida Normal and Industrial Institute (now Florida Memorial University).
The educator of 34 years was the devoted mother of two daughters Cynthia Gail Bickers Bowens (John) and Marcia Bickers Baldwin. Left with decades of fond and colorful memories are her eight grandchildren Wade Tyson (Pheng), Jobi Tyson, Jonathan Bowens, Jerrold Bowens, Marlena Jackson (Chivar), Justin Bowens (Celina), Kaira Saunders, and Garrott Odom; eleven great-grandchildren, Suntavia, Janiya, Braylon, Kamari, Parker, Penny, Reyna, Jayce, Ja'Sye, Sade, and Marley. Affectionately known as Mama Lize, she was also loved and cherished by her nieces Joyce Thompson Prime, Gwendolyn Harris Everett (Ralph), Iatrice Brown Edwards, Margaret Mills Harris (Tom) and a host of grandnieces, grandnephews, great-grandnieces, great-grandnephews, cousins, friends, former students, and a host of beloveds.
Visitation for Eliza Thompson Bickers will be held 6 PM – 8PM, Friday, August 5, 2022, at Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, Pompano Beach, Florida.
Celebration of Life will be held 11 AM, Saturday, August 6, 2022, at Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, Pompano Beach, Florida.
Interment will be held on Monday, August 8, 2022, 2:00pm at Reddick United Cemetery in Reddick, Florida. Mrs. Bickers will lie in repose for public visitation prior to burial services. Final services are entrusted to Summers Funeral Home, 2238 NW 10th Street, Ocala, FL 34475. (352) 351-0566
