Marcos Castillo Benavides, age 81, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 27, 2022, surrounded by his family in Saginaw, Michigan.

He was born on November 22, 1940 in Welch, Texas. The third child of Ramon and Celia Castillo Benavides.

Marcos attended Portland High School when he was 16 years of age, while living with his Uncle Casimiro Perez and Aunt Orpha (Schonchin) Perez in Oregon.

In 1958, he met the love of his life Lilly Sauceda, and the two were united in marriage on September 23, 1961, in Cameron County, Texas.

Marcos began working as a General Motors production worker in 1972 and throughout his years he was promoted to various skilled trade positions. He was given many awards for engineering suggestions. He worked for the company 30 years and retired in 2002.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years Lilly Sauceda Benavides; his children, Beverly Benavides Antal, Alvin (Monica) Benavides, David (Lola) Benavides, Carolynn Benavides (David Castillo) all of Saginaw, MI, and Patricia (Fred) Hitts of Bryan, TX; 14 grandchildren, and 29 great grandchildren; siblings, Maria (†Jose) Alvarado, Rudy (†Jean) Benavides, Gustavo (Esperanza) Benavides, Jose (Ernestine) Benavides, Carlos (†Maryann) Benavides, Frankie (Elsa Aranda) Benavides, Raymond Benavides, Delina Benavides Saldivar, Roy Benavides, Martha (Michael) Reyes, Henry (Patricia) Benavides and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his brothers Louis and Pedro Benavides; sister Juanita Benavides, 3 sister-in-laws Ida, Jean, and Maryann Benavides; niece Wymia, and granddaughter Mia Renee Jackson.

Family and friends will gather at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Road, (off State St.), on Wednesday, August 3, 2022 from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.

A funeral liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. August 4, 2022 at St. Francis of Assisi (St. Anthony of Padua), 3680 South Washington Avenue, Rev Father Alberto Vargas will officiate committal service to follow at Mt Olivet Cemetery.
