Salina was born to James and Catherine Sims. She married a John A. Coleman about 1858 and two daughters were born to this union. Julia and Hulda. The 1860 Census finds them in Wayne Co, Missouri. She was soon to be a widow and by 1866 had married Wilburn Beatty. To this family 4 boys were born. Richard Numbers, Charlie Lee, Wesley Durant and Durantie. Wesley died at the age of 5 and Durantie died at age 3 both in 1876.
1877 finds the family in Grayson Co, TX and then on to Johnson Co, TX residing there for several years before moving to San Diego CA. with their two surviving children. A son, Richard Numbers & widowed daughter, Hulda Haskew. Hulda's three sons, Ransom, Aaron, John B, & 6 year old Richard Branson, their grandson who's parents had died. It wasn't long before the family was back in TX. They settled in Taylor Co. and lived there for many years. After Salina was widowed she went to live with her grandson Richard Branson until her death.
