Columbus, Georgia - Gisela Clemens, 79 of Columbus, GA passed away on Tuesday, August 16, 2022 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
Graveside service will be held 1:00 PM EST Tuesday, August 23, 2022 at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery with Chaplain Allison Owen officiating. Visitation for friends and family will be held 5:00 - 7:00PM Monday, August 22, 2022 at McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
Gisela was born in Berlin Germany on October 6, 1942. Mrs. Clemens was a devout Christian and a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church. She had a career at K-Mart working for twenty years before retirement. She served many roles including Regional Trainer and Department Manager. Gisela had many interest in her life. She was a member of the Columbus Track Club and Volunteered at the National Infantry Museum. She and Mr. Clemens enjoyed traveling especially on cruises. When they weren't traveling Gisela could be found doing needle point or crocheting or reading a good book. She had many friends, some of her friends had group called "Tea Ladies" they would meet weekly to spend time together.
Survivors include her loving husband of forty years, Bruce Clemens; two daughters, Sonja Gleason (Scott) and Ilka Blackstock Brant; three grandchildren, Jeffery Griswold, Kendall Gleason and Kelsey Davis; five great grandchildren, Keaghan Gleason, Addilynn and Warren Davis, Chasen and Jeffery Griswold; three sisters, Jutta Cox, Monica Gesser and Ulla Duhrkoop; one brother in law, Gregory Clemens.
The family would like to extend special thanks to some of the special healthcare workers who went above and beyond to assist Mrs. Clemens. Dr. Stephen Reissman and Nurse Sarah, Dr. Chang, Dr. Joe Miller and his Staff, the Emergency Room doctors and nurse at Martin Army Hospital and Columbus Hospice.
