Huey Marvin "Hughie" Dawes, 77 years, 2 months and 1 day of age, of Science Hill, Kentucky, departed this life on Monday, October 18th, 1993 at the St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky.
Huey was born in Pulaski County, Kentucky on August 17th, 1916, son of the late Albert Patney Dawes and Dakota "Daisy" Gadberry Dawes. Huey was a retired farmer and a member of the First Baptist Church of Science, Hill.
Huey was survived by two sons, Carl Allen Smith of Science Hill, Kentucky and Kenneth Ray Dawes of Erwin, Tennessee; two daughters, Katherine Lucille Martin of Lafayette, Louisiana and Linda Kay Flanagan of Somerset, Kentucky; two brothers, James Dawes of Dayton, Ohio and Willie Dawes of Geneva, Ohio; two sisters, Katherine Cunnigan and Reba Lynn, both of Somerset, Kentucky; sixteen grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other family and friends who mourn his passing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Patney Dawes, who departed this life on March 10th, 1952 and Daisy Dawes, who departed this life on February 16th, 1991; his wife Christine Hall Dawes, who departed this life on July 6th, 1985; two sons, Larry Russell Hall and Marvin Eugene Dawes; one daughter, Sandra Gail Dawes; and four sisters, Bonnie Dawes, Onnie Dawes, Virginia Lewis, and Bertha Dalton.
Visitations were held after 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 20th, 1993 at the Morris & Hislope Funeral Home in Science Hill, Kentucky.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 21st, 1993 at the Beech Grove Baptist Church with Bro. Harold Rose and Edmond VanHook officiating.
Burial followed in the Beech Grove Cemetery in Pulaski County, Kentucky.
