ORIGINAL PRIMARY SOURCES (GENEALOGICAL PROOF STANDARD):
Document copies obtained on the 2014 Genealogy Research trip of my father and I, (April 15-20, 2014) to Bennettsville, Marlboro Co SC, researching at the Courthouse, County Clerk's Office, PVA Office, Historical Society and Museum, Marian Edleman Wright Library Genealogy Room, and Bennettsville Visitor's Center, which all provided crucial information. Prior to our research trip, I sent a letter in advance, explaining the known facts, documents, and what we were hoping to learn while there, which created a flow of sequential appointments with informed clerks. Afterward, I sent a public thanks and Informative trip report as a "Letter to the Editor" of the Marlboro Herald Advocate newspaper in Bennettsville. As representative of the Trigg Co KY & Stewart Co TN descendants of the Newton-Herndon branch, I exchanged info with Donald A. "Don" Newton, former president of the Newton Family Reunion Association & supplied Newton-Herndon descendancy info to their historian Anita Stanton via email correspondence in 2018 & 2023.)

NEWTON-HERNDON LINE: Benjamin Herndon (1760 VA-1814 SC) & his wife Ann Newton, the sister to Younger Newton (children of Giles Newton & Elizabeth "Betty" Terrell) had such an esteem for each other that they named sons after each other, and the names "Younger" & "Younger Newton" were carried down through the Herndon family. By the late teens and the 1820 US Federal Census, Benjamin's widow, Ann (Newton) Herndon, and the majority of her posterity had migrated into 1820 Stewart Co TN, with some ending up in Trigg Co KY.
