Robert Jonathan Corless of Wellesley, MA, died peacefully on April 29, 2017. He was born in Joplin, MO on April 15, 1926 to the late George Bradford and Florence Wilkinson Corless. Robert (Bob) grew up in Houston, Texas and was a graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the Harvard Graduate School of Business, where he was a Baker Scholar.
Bob served in the U.S. Merchant Marines during World War II followed by a successful business career including as President of the American Olean Tile Company in Lansdale, PA, and later as a professor of business at the Plymouth State College in Plymouth, New Hampshire. He also had wide ranging personal interests including a love of horses and dogs, hiking in the White Mountains of New Hampshire, running marathons, opera, music, and philosophy. Bob also enjoyed a long tenure with the Harvard Institute for Learning in Retirement.
He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Ellen Pitts Corless [1927-2022]; children; grandchildren; and great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 13 11:30 AM at The Country Club, Brookline, MA.
