Marvin A. Hemb, age 65, of 1613 N. 12th St., Sheboygan, died Wednesday, Dec. 2, 1998 at his home following a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born May 24, 1933 in the town of Centerville, Manitowoc County. He was the son of the late George and Leona (Ohse) Hemb. Marvin was a graduate of Kiel High School and the apprenticeship journeyman's sprinkler fitter program at Penn State University.
On April 27, 1957, he and Margaret Schulz were united in marriage in St. Mary's Chapel, Ft. Riley, Kan.
Marvin had been employed as a journeyman sprinkler fitter for Grinnel Corp., Milwaukee for over 30 years and later by various companies until his retirement from Aldag-Honold Mechanical Inc. in April 1993. From 1993 to 1997, Marvin held various part-time jobs.
He was a member of Sprinkler Fitters Local 669 and a lifetime member of the N.R.A. For over 40 years, Marvin enjoyed the time he spent with his band, Marvin Hemb, His Trumpet & Orchestra. He was also an avid hunter and gardener.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret; three daughters, Joan Schultz, Debra (Bob) O'Keefe and Kathy Hemb, all of Sheboygan; four sons, Keith (Debbie) Hemb, Brian (Jeanine) Hemb, David (Brenda) Hemb and Kevin (Michele) Hemb, all of Sheboygan; nine grandchildren, Stacy and Jessica Schultz, Ashley and Adam Hemb, Benjamin and Sarah Hemb, Megan and Aric Hemb and Kayla Hemb; two sisters, Marcella Arnst of Sheboygan and Annette (Elmer) Uhlig of Amberg; a sister-in-law, Margaret I. Hemb of Sheboygan; nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
He was also preceded in death by his brother, George Jr.
A funeral service for Marvin will be held at 1 :30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5, 1998 at Ramm-Ziegler-Novak-Rettke Funeral Home-Northside Chapel. Rev. Daniel J. Sanders, pastor of Holy Name of Jesus Parish, will officiate. Burial will take place in Sunrise Memorial Gardens, town of Wilson. Friends may call at Ramm-Ziegler-Novak-Rettke Funeral Home-Northside Chapel, 726 Michigan Ave., Sheboygan, from 10 a.m. Saturday until the time of the service.
