Rev. Leon Crutchfield

Arnold Leon Crutchfield was born January 31, 1942, in Cornerville, AR, to Lester Ray and Elva Ola Boyd Crutchfield. He graduated from Star City High School. Following graduation, he worked a number of jobs, including Sunbeam Bread Company, Byrd's Manufacturing, National Wire, and Pine Bluff Ironworks as a machinist. He was married on December 11, 1964, in Cornerville, to Betty Carolyn Webb. He was ordained as a minister in January of 1972 at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church of Rison, AR. Over the years, he served several churches in Arkansas, including Crossett, Clarendon, Whiteville, and Poyen, before moving to Ponca City, OK. While pastoring at Whiteville, he graduated from the Missionary Baptist Seminary in Little Rock. He returned to Arkansas and pastored in Brinkley for 27 years before retiring, having pastored for over 50 years in all.

Rev. Crutchfield served as a member of the Mt. Vernon Association Mission committee and he and Carolyn worked for many years as a poll worker in Brinkley. When he wasn't ministering or spending time with his family, he loved going fishing or woodworking in his shop.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Carolyn, who was his true love and to whom he was married for 52 years at the time of her death in 2017; a brother, Dale Crutchfield; and two sisters, Charlene Jordan and Varnice Jackson.

Rev. Crutchfield is survived by two sons, Wade (Pam) Crutchfield and Charles (Donna) Crutchfield; two sisters, Carolyn Hughes and Linda (Randall) Green; four grandchildren, Amanda (Ian) Hall, Erin (Chris) Arreola, Katelyn Rando, and Samuel Crutchfield; a great-grandson, Trent Hall; and a number of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Visitation will be held 6:00-8:00 P.M. Tuesday, September 13, 2022, at Robinson and Fuller White Hall Funeral Chapel.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, September 14, 2022, at Meadowview Southern Baptist Church with Bro. Ron Sanders and Bro. Carlin Gray officiating. Burial will follow in Cornerville Cemetery in Lincoln County.
