He became an entrepreneur in his own right and was ecstatic to introduce his brother Montro to the business as well. Andrew was even featured in the Documentary Black Captains of the Chesapeake.
Captain Andy had a passion for pitching horseshoes, he would pitch 95 percent ringers out of 100. He loved to travel to tournaments and competitions to show off his skills and would win trophies and awards for being the best. Fun to "Captain Andy" was going out during the week and shooting pool with his brother Montro and good friends James Hynson and Harry Warwick. Oh yeah did we mention, he also won trophies for being an awesome pool player.
You could always hear Captain Andy saying some of his most memorable sayings such as, "The Champ ain't in no trouble at no time." "You got that right "or "cakes all dough." He was known for giving you a word of advice and speaking his mind while doing so. To lend a helping hand to whomever needed it was of the norm for him; he enjoyed helping others. His pride and joy were his family. He loved his family so much and would do anything for them. He loved riding out taking his daily rides to his daughter Teresa's. His humorous personality and love for life lead him in to the hearts of just about anybody that ever met him. But, most of all Captain Andy always greeted you with a smile and kind word decked out with his cap and gold shinning bright.
