Mrs. Mary Carter Lawson, 83, passed away on Friday morning, October 7, 2022, at her home.

A native of Rockingham County, Mrs. Lawson was born on December 10, 1938, the daughter of the late Grover and Altie Pegram Carter. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved attending Wayside Baptist Church in Walnut Cove and time spent with family, especially her grandbabies. At home, she enjoyed watching the birds and squirrels in the yard. She retired from Blue Bell where she worked as a sewer.

Surviving are her husband, George Lawson of the home; children Sue Joyce of Stoneville, Sherry Joyce (Jerry) of Madison, Randy Lawson of Stokesdale, and Tommy Lawson (Tammy) of Stoneville; brother Sidney Carter of Stokesdale; sister Mae Kiger of Walnut Cove; 9 grandchildren Michelle Freeman, Michael Freeman, Gary Stanley, Terry Stanley, Jessica Otero, Nikki Lawson, Cody Lawson, Kayla Lawson, Krista Lawson; 12 great grandchildren Deana Freeman, Brittany Freeman, Michael Freeman, Christopher Stanley, Tyler Freeman, Brook Freeman, Skylar Roland, Leia Roland, Misty McKinney, Elijah Martin, Charlie Rierson, Thomas Steele; great-great grandchild Samaya Hampton.

Mrs. Lawson's funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, October 10 at Wayside Baptist Church with Pastor Arick Brown officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 5 until 7 p.m. at Forbis & Dick – Stokesdale.
