Saint John Daily Morning News, Mon 13 Nov 1871: "On Friday afternoon, about half past 3 o'clock, Charles BAYARD of Welsford (Queens Co.) left the residence of his brother, Dr. Wm BAYARD in (St. John) city for the purpose, it is conjectured, of going to the Orphan Asylum on Brittain St. It his intention to have procured a servant girl from the children at that place to take to his home, to which he was going that day. He did not however return, nor has he been seen since that time, although every effort has been made to trace his whereablouts. Saint John Christian Visitor, Thu 16 Nov 1871: "Charles BAYARD of Welsford (Queens Co.) s/o late Dr. Robert BAYARD was stopping with his brother Dr. William BAYARD for the purpose of receiving medical treatment for brain disease. BAYARD; witnesses: Samuel WELSH, grocer; Alida CRAIG, William THOMSEN, licenced tavern keeper; - On Tuesday 21st day of November 1871, Charles Robertson Bayard of Parish of Welsford, County of Queens, was found dead on Street's Farm in Parish of Simonds, City and County of St. John and we the Jurors say that Charles Robertson BAYARD came to his death from exposure, while suffering from a temporary fit of insanity.
