Ramona Mirabal was born in Bernalillo, NM to Frutoso and Ramonsita Chávez on October 11,1928 and raised by Margaret Chávez.
Ramona married my dad, Steve Mirabal on May 8, 1948. They were married for 64 years. They had six children, Robert Mirabal (Theresa), Diana Básquez (Rudy), Denise Aragón, Elva Lucero (Marlo), Margaret Romero (Dennis)and Stephen Mirabal (Sandra) and raised Melissa Mirabal (Jon). Ramona had 20 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren. Ramona took care of so many family members.
Ramona was a great cook, her Friday night red chile enchiladas. Always made our holidays special with her posole, her red chile and her biscochitos. Her biscochitos were the best!
Ramona enjoyed crocheting and loved spending her time with our dad at the cabin in the mountains.
Ramona was a devoted Catholic. Ramona prayed her Rosary till a day before she left us. Always Loved us all!
Mom's quote to us was "We were all her children and each one of us was special we all help in different ways" She always sang to us and each of us had a special song from her. Ramona has enriched our life's and made us who we are today. We miss the joy and comfort she gave to us all!
We love you Mom!
Thanks to everyone that has offered prayers and condolences during this difficult time!
Also thanks to Hospice of New Mexico, Erica, Tasha, April, Dottie, Jonathan and staff!
