John, Marjorie A. "Toozie"

Marjorie A. "Toozie" John, age 90, formerly of 3515 Custer Street, Manitowoc, died Wednesday morning, August 13, 2014 at Shady Lane Nursing Care Center.

Marjorie was born February 28, 1924 in Manitowoc, daughter of the late Rex and Pearl (Hall) John Sr. She grew up in Manitowoc and was a 1942 graduate of Manitowoc Lincoln High School. Marjorie received her Bachelor's Degree in 1947 from the University of Wisconsin at La Crosse and also received a Master's Degree from Northern Michigan in Marquette. Marjorie taught Physical Education at the Delavan High School, Kenosha Jr. High School and retired in 1990 from Washington Jr. High School in Manitowoc after a 43 year career.

Marjorie was a member of First Presbyterian Church and was a former Deacon of the church. She enjoyed her pet cat, Heidi, watching sports, especially basketball. The Chicago Bulls was her favorite team.

Survivors include a niece: Barbara John, Manitowoc; a nephew: Greg John, WA; one great niece: Amy John and great nephews: Brian John, Kevin John, and Justin John. Other nieces and nephews and friends survive. She was preceded in death by her parents: Rex and Pearl John Sr.; two brothers: Rex John Jr.; Richard John; one sister: Lenore Fleet; and one nephew: Garry John.

A private family service will be held with entombment of Marjorie's cremated remains at the Knollwood Mausoleum. The Rev. Dr. Matthew L. Sauer will officiate. The Jens Family Funeral Home & Crematory of Manitowoc is assisting the family with funeral arrangements. Online condolences may be expressed at www.jensreinboldandpfeffer.com

Marge loved all those around her. Her smiling face & the light in her eyes were contagious. Toozie wanted everyone to know they were special. She was an amazing lady. The family would like to thank the staff & her friends at Shady Lane for all the love, kindness & friendship they have given to Toozie.
