I believe evidence points to A. G. Halsey being Allen Halsey, the son of William Cecil Halsey and his wife, Rebecca Ann (Hash) Halsey, although I cannot definitively prove it. Allen Halsey was born Sept 1866 according to the Grayson County birth records for the 1st District. No day of birth is given (See Birth Record under Photos). A.G. Halsey, according to his headstone, died 9 Sep 1866. Allen's birth record is the one and only record I can find for him. He does not appear in the William Cecil Halsey household on the 1870 Federal Census for the Wilson Creek, Grayson County, Virginia area.
