Mr. Keymer enlisted at Brooklyn, N.Y. 8/28/1862.On 9/9/1862 he was mustered into Co. "A" 139 N.Y. Vol. Inf.He was with his regiment during the vicious and sometimes pointless Overland Campaign tactics that Grant used in hammering his army against an often unmoving, or smartly maneuvering opponent. "That Grant was supplying a corpse of a cripple to every home in the north" was a statement that was made in sarcastic ignorance, but as time went on it
looked as though they may have been right after all.Corporal Keymew survived this bucket of blood and would see his home and loved ones in July, 1865.
