Graveside rites for Robert "Bob" Mobley, 77, Dallas, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 26, 2001, at Rose Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Ernest Maddon officiating.

Mr. Mobley was born April 27, 1923, Ardmore, to Ben E. and Tennie Worsham Mobley. He died April 23, 2001, in a Dallas hospital.

A 1941 graduate of Ardmore High School, he attended Washington and Lee University where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. During World War II he enlisted in the Army Air Corps flight cadet training. He received his pilots wings and commission in 1945. After the service, he graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a bachelor's degree in business. He then attended New York University graduate school, taking special courses in furniture design, color and design and related courses. He had a successful design career, both individually and with a custom home builder. He was a member of A.S.I.D. Before retirement, he managed the furniture department of a design center showroom.

His interests varied. He was a rabid football fan and loved music from jazz to classical. He had a special interest in opera because Ramon Vinay, renowned tenor of the Metropolitan Opera, was his brother-in-law. He was a supporter of the Dallas symphony. He was also a member of DMA and the Dallas Zoo. He was a true theater buff. He enjoyed worldwide travel. His warm personality and genuine liking for people earned him the love and respect of many who knew him.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Gerald, Ben E. Jr. and Grady; and four sisters, Louise Watkins, Merle Mobley, Marie Muchmore and Lushanya Vinay.

He is survived by four nieces, Anita McMullen of Arlington, Texas, Lauren Harrell of San Antonio, Pattye Watkins of Arlington and Aurelia Phillips of Dallas; a nephew, Gordon Mobley of Dallas and numerous other grand nephews and nieces.

Memorials may be made to the SPCA or Dallas Zoo.
