CUBA - Alice G. Resch, 84, of 9 Orchard St., Cuba, passed away Thursday (Oct. 20, 2022) at Olean General Hospital.
Born on April 16, 1938, in Cuba, she was a daughter of Stanton and Ruth Totten Swift, Sr. On Sept. 13, 1958, at Our Lady of Angels Church, she married Gerald E. Resch, who preceded her in death on March 24, 2013.
Alice was a graduate of Cuba Central School Class of 1956. In 1957, she graduated from Trott Vocational School of Practical Nursing in Niagara Falls.
She was an LPN at Cuba Memorial Hospital for 40 years prior to her retirement.
Alice was a member of the Cuba First Baptist Church and its choir and the Cuba American Legion Post 655 Auxiliary. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, picture puzzles, playing the piano and cross stitching.
She is survived by a daughter, Cindy Resch of Cuba; three grandchildren, Taylor Johnston of Texas, Katy Johnston of Cuba and Steven Johnston of Buffalo; a sister, Katherine "Katy" R. Harbeck of Cuba; a daughter-in-law, Cheryl Resch LeRoy; a sister-in-law, Maureen (Robert) Hayes of Virginia; several nieces and nephews; and her beloved Yorkie, Jenny.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a son, Jeffrey C. Resch, who passed away Sept. 29, 2017; and her siblings, Roger (Mary) Swift, Daniel (Ann) Swift, Stanton "Smokey" Swift, Jr., Larry (Milly) Swift and her twin brother, George Swift.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday (Nov. 1, 2022) at the Mark F. Rinker Funeral Home & Memorial Service, Inc, 9 Bull St., Cuba, and again from 10 to 11a.m. on Wednesday (Nov. 2, 2022) at which time a memorial service will be held. Pastor Claudia Little will officiate.
Burial will be in Bellville Cemetery, town of New Hudson.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Special Olympics or to Cuba First Baptist Church's Organ Maintenance Fund.
