Roger D. Swift of 13 Medbury Heights passed away Monday, July 28, 2008 in the Olean General Hospital.

Mr. Swift was born on August 4, 1930 in Cuba and was a son of Stanton S. & Ruth Totten Swift, Sr.

On June 13, 1959 in Springville he married his wife Mary T. Nason, who pre-deceased him on August 8, 2003.

Mr. Swift was a graduate of Cuba Central School class of 1948. He received an Associates Degree from Alfred Tech. in 1969. He served in the Us Air Force from Dec. 30, 1950 to Dec. 29, 1954. Mr. Swift worked for Fleet Bank for 22 years and was the Friendship Branch Manager when he retired in 1991.

Mr. Swift was a sports enthusiast starting in high school where he played Basketball, Baseball, football and soft ball. He was a life long Yankee and St. Bonaventure Basketball fan.

Mr. Swift was a member of the American Legion Post 655 and the Cuba VFW 2721. He served as a Cuba Trustee for 9 years from 1991 to 2000 after which he served as the Mayor of Cuba for 5 years from 2000 to 2005. He also served as President of the Bellville Cemetery for many years. Mr. Swift was the Cuba Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year in 2002.

Surviving Mr. Swift are a son, Greg D. Swift of Cuba; a daughter, Lori A. (John) Clemmer of Las Vegas, NV; a grandson, Dennis R. Swift of Las Vegas, NV; a brother, Larry (Milly) Swift of San Francisco, Ca.; two sisters, Katherine Harbeck of Cuba and Alice (Gerald) Resch of Cuba; two sisters in law, Ann Swift of Trumansburg, NY and Maureen (Robert) Hayes of Chesterfield, VA; and many nieces & nephews.

Mr. Swift was pre-deceased by three brothers Daniel, Stanton "Smokey" and George Swift.

Friends will be received on Wednesday, July 30, 2008 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM in the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc. #24 Genesee Pkwy Cuba, where funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 31, 2008 at 10:00 A.M. The Rev. Larry A. Poelma, Pastor of the Cuba First Baptist Church will officiate.

Burial will be in the Bellville Cemetery, New Hudson, NY.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Cuba Circulating Library Pre-School Program in care of Mrs. Linda Poelma at 39 East Main Street, Cuba, New York 14727.
